“The Wild Beyond Borders” — Sauljaljui (戴曉君) builds her creative universe around the moon lute, weaving indigenous roots with the language of world music. Her deep, soul-stirring voice embodies the spirit of “walking the world through music,” allowing cultural vitality to flow freely between melodies.
In recent years, Sauljaljui has expanded her artistry beyond performance, hosting the popular music program Front Row in the Rock Zone in 2023, where she showcased her dynamic presence as both singer and presenter. Her 2024 album VAIVAIK: Walking and Seeking won the Gold Medal in World Music at the Global Music Awards and received four nominations at the 36th Golden Melody Awards, taking home Best Indigenous Language Album and Best Arrangement, marking a new pinnacle in her musical journey.
From the Rainforest World Music Festival (Malaysia, 2017) to Global Toronto (Canada, 2020) and ACC World Music Festival (Korea, 2023), Sauljaljui’s path has taken her across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
In 2024, she performed at Tallinn Music Week (Estonia) to great acclaim and embarked on her first European tour, appearing at major festivals including Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic), WOMAD UK, and Sfinks Mixed (Belgium).
Continuing her global journey in 2025, Sauljaljui will perform at Folk Alliance International (FAI) in North America and WOMADelaide in Australia — carrying the wild, borderless spirit of Taiwan’s indigenous music to the world stage.
