Instructor: Liao Yu-Hsuan
Workshop Title: You Have Ear Hair but I Don’t
Workshop Subtitle: Multispecies Auditory Experience on Ligalin Road
Date: August 3 (Saturday)
Time: 14:30 – 18:30
Location: Ligalin Road
This workshop is planned as an open exploration, aiming to use simple bioacoustic and imaginative guidance to encourage participants to practice listening from the perspective of different local plants and animals (if applicable) on Ligalin Road. The goal is to foster a multispecies connection with the road, focusing on the idea of mutual waiting and quietly opening oneself up. This experience will explore the possibilities of “auditory” as a human-made concept, moving beyond anthropocentrism.
Exploring both amphibious academic research and sound creation, the instructor holds a Master’s degree from the Department of Musicology at National Taiwan University. Their primary research interests include Taiwanese ecological musicology, ethnomusicology, and sound anthropology, with a focus on topics such as high-altitude sound studies in Taiwan, sound governance, and multispecies ethnography. Currently, their creative work investigates the intersection of nature, history, and sound art, exploring how people shape cross-species and cross-system tactile structures and sensory processes amidst contemporary situations and the multiple re-productions of modern soundscapes.
